Struggling

We had some craziness here this past weekend. Lots of rain, wind and storms...Not so bad in Grand Rapids, but it was pretty nasty in Spring Lake and on the Lakeshore. There were 6 fatalities due to the storms, but one of them hit close to home. A Spring Lake alumni, Chad Dushane, died when a large tree branch fell on his car while he was driving down the street. I went to school with Chad...so did my brother. My brother knew him better than I did as they played soccer together, but growing up in a small town, you pretty much know everybody. Chad was engaged to Kathy Tyer who was also in the car with him on Sunday but she was treated and released with minor injuries.

I'm struggling a bit. Over the last few months, I have lost numerous people in my life. All of them good people. Some of them were expected deaths as they were either elderly or sick. But, 3 of them were tragedies....these people were too young to die. Chad is one of those people. He was the nicest guy you could meet, always with a smile on his face.

I'm really struggling with God and why He would do this....I still believe, but it's so hard to watch this continue to happen.

So, if you would....please pray for the Dushane and Tyer families as they move forward after this unexpected loss. Pray for all of Chad's friends who are struggling to grasp the fact that a close friend is no longer with us but is in Heaven awaiting our arrival. And, pray for me, that I let go and let God do what He does. I will never know why He took these people from us but I can use this to help others come to believe that God is the way.
